Ned Kelly: Public Enemy No. 1 - Wednesday, March 02, 2005 at 3/02/2005 05:05:00 PM

Title: Ned Kelly: Public Enemy No. 1
Year: 2004
Genre: Action / Drama
Director: Gregor Jordan
Writer: Robert Drewe / John M. McDonagh
Country: Australia
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Heath Ledger as Ned Kelly / Orlando Bloom as Joe Byrne
Author's Rating: 7 (fine)

A film based on a novel (Our Sunshine) about an outlaw just like Robin Hood. Was betrayed, captured and executed. Although the film seems to be lacking of an ending or something i think its pretty good. Those armour are quite stupid; oh, maybe during that time it could considered be awesome. Did that armour really exist. The actors seems to perform well in contrast to its not so good script. Well, the movie is clearly geared to an Australian culture, so some of us might find the movie uninteresting, maybe if they added some few effects or stunts to overcome its weak script might be even better. As for me the movie is good, go watch and decide.

Flight of the Phoenix - Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 2/26/2005 01:05:00 PM

Title: Flight of the Phoenix
Year: 2004
Genre: Action / Adventure
Director: John Moore
Writer: Lukas Heller / Scott Frank
Country: United States
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Dennis Quaid as Frank Towns / Giovanni Ribisi as Elliott and Miranda Otto as Kelly
Author's Rating: 4 (sorry)

A remake of a 1965 film, supposed to be a very nice film of that time, but with this more advanced version of the film, surprisingly it became the worst ever. The first part of the film was indeed great, plane crash then force landing but as the story goes, it became dull. It lack the continuing exitement of the film. I am dissapointed of this film, well the ad was nice, i though it was a great film. If you want to know the story, just watch the 1965 version instead.

 Constantine - Monday, February 21, 2005 at 2/21/2005 05:18:00 PM

Title: Constantine
Year: 2005
Genre: Action / Thriller / Horror
Director: Francis Lawrence
Writer: Jamie Delano / Garth Ennis
Country: United States
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Keanu Reeves as John Constantine / Rachel Weisz as Angela Dodson and Isabel Dodson
Author's Rating: 8 (good)

Keanu is back with his emotionless act, but this time his lack of emotion seems liked it fitted to the movie theme. Is he a smoker in real life, i wonder cause he doesn't seem to know how to smoke. I like the movie effects they are good, the story is somewhat based on a comic book Constantine also smokes but of different costume. the story is nice but is predectable, although right after the movie, it will make you raise some questions to yourself. Your questions should probably start with "How the hell did ..."

Rachel you are one gorgeous girl, i think the movie is all about her. Without her the movie will suck.

Pay close attention to the possesed girl at the start of the movie she would say something similar to "papatayin kita!" not so sure to what i have heard though. But thats Filipino language, i think that girl is a Fipilino.

After the movie do not leave early, there is a scene at the last portion wherein Shia LaBeouf was transformed into an angel or a halfbreed. An idea that there might be a sequel for this film.

 Ocean's Twelve - Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 2/12/2005 10:47:00 AM

Title: Ocean's Twelve
Year: 2004
Genre: Comedy
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Writer: George Clayton Johnson / Jack Golden Russell
Country: United States
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: George Clooney as Danny Ocean + 11 star cast
Author's Rating: 7 (fine)

What i only like about this movie is the that laser song. With most of the movies with sequels, they usually suck; i have seen this for a while now and i have forgotten to make a comment this for there is no good in nature to this movie that i liked to blog and i instantly forgot this movie. Seriously i thought this movie is part two of the ocean's eleven but its more like Entrapment and its ironic cause Catherine was there too. I was expecting some gunfights and actions and so on. The movie falls into the comedy genre. And thing is that i haven't seen a single scene that made me laugh, its too lame. Another funny thing is that it took me time to finally understand this movie, the plot is messy. With its Julia Roberts preteding to be her? wtf? Who the hell came up an idea like this?, seems like an amateur movie to me. The only thing they have stolen is the people's money, i bet. I liked that bizarre camera angles anyway, it seems that its the only original part in the movie.

Liked the Laser song also? Take note its not included in the Oceans Twelve Soundtrack.

 Elektra - Saturday, February 05, 2005 at 2/05/2005 01:04:00 PM

Title: Elektra
Year: 2005
Genre: Action
Director: Rob Bowman
Writer: Mark Steven Johnson / Frank Miller
Country: United States
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Jennifer Garner as Elektra
Author's Rating: 6 (fair)

I thought this was a nice movie considering it was based on a comic book. However, it seems that characters appeared to be lame and without much story about them. Seriously if it was not Jennifer as Elektra this movie would suck bigtime. the movie is cleary poor written. Well i love its costume, i think its victorias secret? But its odd to fight to badguys wearing underwear anyway its common to superheroes. I did not seem to understand the plot where it is going and how did the characters evolve, its like watching a rip off of daredevil and killbill in one movie screen. What a mess, i might say that it is better that elektra to stay dead rather being resurected. The movie is like watching the tv series in a much bigger screen at the end it would say "to be continued".

 Kung Fu Hustle - Friday, February 04, 2005 at 2/04/2005 10:20:00 AM

Title: Kung Fu Hustle
Year: 2004
Genre: Action / Commedy
Director: Stephen Chow
Writer: Tsang Kan Cheong / Stephen Chow / Chan Man Keung
Country: Hong Kong
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Stephen Chow as Sing
Author's Rating: 10 (go watch this movie)

I was afraid you would judge me in reviewing movies for so far all my comments were negative. So much for that there has been an exception to all those movies i have recently watched. This is a must to see movie, not to mention the awards it gathered on the Hong Kong film festival.

I especially liked the effects, the fight between the landlords and the beast was awesome. I have seen such good visual effects before (like The Matrix, etc.) but Kung Fu Hustle tops them all. And the characters appear to be very homurous which makes me laugh out loud. I have never seen such audience laughing even after the comedy scene.

I won't comment to much, just go see this movie.

 Blade: Trinity - Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 1/27/2005 02:09:00 PM

Title: Blade: Trinity
Year: 2004
Genre: Action / Horror
Director: David S. Goyer
Writer: Marv Wolfman / Gene Colan
Country: United States
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Wesley Snipes as Blade/ Kris Kristofferson as Abraham Whistler
Dominic Purcell as Drake / Jessica Biel as Abigail Whistler
Author's Rating: 5 (fair)

Here we go again, another Blade movie!!!

This time its worse of the series. I liked the new guns and equipments though. There is less action. The first two has its unique storyline compare to this third movie. I wonder why its been attracting so many movie goers here in the Philippines; it has been on show for a month, its not that nice! The film has been sensored by the board and was reduced to a shocking 106 minutes, damn them. tsk. Take a look at the Dracula resurected to the future- he's more like a rock star. And where the hell was Abraham Whistler? i kept thinking on how was he resurected after that grenade explosion. Another point kepk me wondering, who will Blade hunt now, wherein all the vampires expect were killed by the virus and why the hell he is alive? Well, so much for the movie.

 The Terminal - Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 1/15/2005 09:43:00 AM

Title: The Terminal
Year: 2004
Genre: Drama / Comedy
Director: Steven Spielberg
Writer: Andrew Niccol / Sacha Gervasi
Country: United States, Burgaria
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Tom Hanks as Viktor Navorski / Catherine Zeta-Jones as Amelia Warren
Author's Rating: 7 (fine)

A person from Bulgaria found himself trapped in the JFK airport the problem is that he olny knows a little English. The story was based on a real person in France who was stuck in the airport and i dont know why but the guy doesnt want to leave the airport when he can do it now. Sad to say that Viktor was alone in his flight from Bulgaria and he was the only one trapped in there. Being a foreigner and only speaks a little english, it is an excuse that he may be dumb at first. During his stay at the airport, he quickly learned how to speak english, he wasnt that dumb after all. He wan indeed a very good architech but poor in plumbing and electricity, well no body's perfect.

The really essence of the movie was all about waiting, fullfiling a promise. almost every one in the movie has their own way of waiting. Victor waiting to get out to manhattan, Amelia was waiting for her right guy, etc. etc.

The movie was indeed interesting it made me laugh, for a while, not to mention the bulgarian accent of Viktor was good for an american. The only thing negative about the movie is its desrespect to the non americans i hate to say it but i think it was being portrayed in the movie.

 So ... Happy Together - Thursday, January 06, 2005 at 1/06/2005 09:34:00 AM
Title: So... Happy Together
Year: 2004
Genre: Drama / Comedy
Director: Joel Lamangan
Writer: Tatus Aldana / Ricardo Lee
Country: Philippines
Rating: PG 13
Main Cast: Kris Aquino as Lianne / Eric Quizon as Osmond
Author's Rating: 4 (for fans only)

A story of two individuals and their love life failures and struggles. Sad to say a movie was already created with a similar title "Happy Together" in 1989 and another in 1998 a story between two homosexual men in buenos aires with the same theme song. I first though the movie was something like Dharma and Gregg, its far much worse.

The story was focused on the two main actors osmond and lianne being a secret couple in the end. osmond being "a homosexual" don't if he is really a homo in real life but he acts gracefully somewhat a true gay... anyway there is somewhat unrealistic about the film being there are some many coincedental events that occured the lose of lovers at the same time, lose of parents, etc.
